Vows on the Thames…
Summer time! And Orchid Events have just recently finished a very special boat house wedding for one of our lovely clients. This special day was set in a unique boat house situated on an Island along the River Thames. This intriguing venue provided a special and romantic setting for the celebrations to take place.
On arrival, guests took a small boat across the river and on to the island; this was a distinctive way to arrive at a wedding venue and one that our guests won’t forget. The island offered the couple the perfect exclusive setting for the wedding, allowing the couple to celebrate in private with their family and friends.

This wedding was full of personal details which were specially picked out by couple. One of our favourite was this unique wishing tree, where guests could leave the couple a message for them to read later. This was a lovely idea and gave the couple something to remember from their big day and cherish for years to come. By the end of the night, this tree was filled with special notes and messages.

The colour scheme for the event was purple and green which really complemented the natural palette of this venue. The tables were decorated with a dramatic floral centre pieces with the green flowers popping out against the branches. This was a simple yet elegant design and really complimented this boat house wedding and the surrounding location.

Each table was named from locations around the world which had been visited by our client before they got married. The stationary was personalized by an illustrator with pictures of that location. This was an alternative from using numbers to differentiate tables and can be a way to make your event personal, by naming tables after places you’ve visited or things that are close to your heart, after all a wedding is about love. Each guest also received a red leather luggage tag personalized with an embossed image of the wedding stationary.

Guests relaxed and enjoyed an incredible street walking brass band performance for the reception. They covered classic blues, folk and pop/rock songs requested by our client. Later in the evening we brought in another band that played alongside the DJ providing some high energy moments. Guests were able to dance the night away and enjoy their boat house wedding celebrating the new happy couple. This talented band was selected by Music by Arrangement using their expertise in finding the best live entertainment for any event.
At the end of the night all guest bid farewell to the newlywed couple that left the island on an elegant and classic wooden boat that took them all the way to South London!
