Yesterday was a truly special and deeply moving day.

With the Support an extraordinary team of people, we were honoured to help deliver Forbidden Voices: Banned but not Forgotten at The City of London School — a concert dedicated to preserving the memory of those whose voices, stories and music were silenced.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this powerful evening of music, history and remembrance. Your presence helped make this important tribute even more meaningful.

A heartfelt thank you to the exceptional orchestra, musicians and soloists who brought these remarkable works to life, and special thanks to our conductor, @michal.oren , for her inspiring leadership and artistry.

We are also immensely grateful to our producers, partners, supporters, volunteers, creative team, and everyone working tirelessly behind the scenes. This event would not have been possible without your dedication and commitment to ensuring these stories continue to be heard.

Really, I celebrate my dad every day, but Father’s Day offers a special opportunity to say thank you.

My wonderful dad, Alan Balfour—entrepreneur, playwright and historian.

He was always beside me, sitting for countless hours while I practised the piano as a young girl. Although not a trained pianist, he has a sharp ear and an incredible imagination and was always patient, always encouraging. He would tell stories about what the music could evoke—helping me see it, feel it, and ultimately express it in my playing.

Thank you, Dad, for your unwavering belief in me and your calm support. The connection we share through music, imagination, creativity and quiet understanding is one of the greatest gifts in my life.

Happy Father’s Day to my wonderful dad, and to all the amazing fathers and father figures who stand with us, shape us and help us grow.

✨ A Concert. A Story. A Promise to Remember. ✨

On 21 June, Orchid Events is honoured to bring Forbidden Voices to life for one special evening.

This is more than a concert.
It is a journey through memory, resilience and the power of music to survive even the darkest chapters of history.

Through guided storytelling and extraordinary performances, Forbidden Voices will celebrate composers whose music was banned by the Nazis simply because of who they were. Their voices were silenced by hatred, censorship and persecution—but their music endured.

The evening will feature remarkable works by composers affected by Nazi oppression, alongside a new arrangement of Erich Wolfgang Korngold's Love Scene from The Adventures of Robin Hood.

As an events company, we are incredibly proud to be managing a project of such significance and to be working alongside an exceptional team of musicians, historians, creatives and partners, including @yadvashemukfoundation @jewishbrand , and the @nationalholocaustmuseumuk
Together, we are helping to ensure these once-forbidden voices are heard again.
